Matt Dickhut, a local real estate agent in Northwest Arkansas, has wrapped up his second year as a 1% for the Planet business member. 1% for the Planet is a global movement inspiring businesses and individuals to support environmental solutions through annual membership and everyday actions. By joining the initiative, Matt commits to donating 1% of his annual sales to support non-profits focused on the environment. The Land Trust is eligible to receive support as a 1% for the Planet approved environmental partner.

“I joined 1% for the Planet because I am passionate about conservation and access to the outdoors. As my business has grown over the last seven years, it has become ever more apparent how much I rely on the wilderness to find balance and to recenter during busy times,” said Matt Dickhut. “Joining as a 1% for the Planet Business Member was my way of holding myself accountable to support that which supports me and to play a role in ensuring these opportunities of recreation, sport, and respite in nature are here for generations to come.”

Through the 1% for the Planet membership, Matt Dickhut Realty will help power the Land Trust’s work to partner with conservation-minded landowners, municipalities, and organizations to protect land with agricultural, ecological, scenic, historic, and recreational significance in Northwest Arkansas.

To date, NWALT has preserved 7,365 acres of land across 43 properties in Northwest Arkansas.

“I chose NWALT as my non-profit partner because the Ozarks and the wilderness around Northwest Arkansas were a large part of my childhood and played an important role in shaping who I am today. The beauty and abundant access to the Ozark Forest and Buffalo Natural River afforded me the opportunity to start my first business. After college, a group of friends and I started Arkansas Youth Adventures, an immersive, overnight, outdoor summer camp. It was here that I learned so many lessons about life, business, and the importance of helping foster a deep appreciation of nature in the next generation,” added Matt Dickhut. “As Northwest Arkansas continues to grow, I know that I want to play a role in ensuring the protection of our lands for wildlife preservation and guaranteed opportunities for people to continue connecting with nature.”

By investing in the preservation and protection of Northwest Arkansas’ natural resources, Matt Dickhut Realty is helping ensure that future generations can enjoy the benefits of outdoor spaces and maintain a strong connection with nature.

“Our partnership with Matt Dickhut Realty through 1% for the Planet is already driving positive change in our work” said Grady Spann, CEO of NWALT. “This support will significantly help our ongoing work to forever protect water sheds, access to outdoor recreation, natural habitats, farms, landscapes, and the quality of life that define and sustain Northwest Arkansas.”
