Spread the love

Serving seafood at Easter is a long-held tradition for many Australians, and there’s no better place to find the freshest variety of seafood than Sydney Fish Market. Australia’s home of seafood will offer extended trading hours on Good Friday, giving Sydneysiders more time to shop for their Easter feasts.

Retailers will open their doors from 5:00am to 5:00pm on Friday 7 April, with more than 50,000 seafood lovers estimated to visit the market that day. Business will continue as usual over the remainder of the long weekend, with retailers open from 7am to 4pm daily. Approximately 650 tonnes of seafood is expected to be sold during the course of the Easter long weekend.

Sydney Fish Market CEO Greg Dyer says, “Easter is one of the liveliest times at the market and we are excited to welcome eager shoppers back for another extended Good Friday trade. With strong seafood supply, our retailers are well prepared with a huge variety of seafood to see customers through their long weekend of Easter feasting.”

With cost-of-living putting pressure on many families, Sydney Fish Market recommends switching out popular species for something lesser-known for customers looking to reduce their spend.

Sydney Fish Market’s Species Swaps for Easter:

  • Swap Salmon for Rainbow Trout
  • Swap Flathead for Red Gurnard
  • Swap King Prawns for Banana or Endeavour Prawns
  • Swap Tuna for Bonito
  • Swap John Dory for Red or Mirror Dory
  • Swap Garfish for Eastern School Whiting
  • Swap Vongole for Mussels

In addition to favourites like prawns and oysters, customers will find all the fresh produce and sweet treats they could possibly need across the Market’s six wet fish retailers, greengrocer, butcher, bakery, bottle shop and gourmet deli – a one stop shop this Easter.

Visitors can also dine at the various on-site restaurants and cafes throughout the long weekend, enjoying a range of hot and cold seafood delicacies.

When planning a Good Friday visit, customers are encouraged to keep an eye on Sydney Fish Market’s website and social media accounts for updates and information.
