Spread the love

fun-in-the-sun and-the-seaOne of the luxuries of life is having the time to enjoy the luxuries of life.  And so it is at The Phoenicia, where nothing is rushed, least of all a wish to depart this exceptional property with a long history as Malta’s premier hotel.  During the upcoming EuroPride Valletta 2023 celebrations taking place later this year, 7-17 September, The Phoenicia will no doubt be a haven for visitors seeking a sublime sanctuary that is nevertheless near the centre of the action.

Rooms and suites at The Phoenicia provide pampered comfort to its guests whose first glimpse of the Acqua di Parma toiletries in the immaculate bathrooms will perceive that rushing a bath or shower is not a good idea.  The beds and, most of all, the pillows are divinely comfortable, and the hotel’s public areas are no less inviting, maintaining a regal air of calm amid the relaxing colour tones of the decor, especially in the Palm Court Lounge that is a focal point of the hotel.

Outdoors and pleasant fragrances emanate from the seven hectares of gardens where exotic trees and colourful flowers enhance the hotel’s grounds, supplemented with a splendid view toward Valletta, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  Various sitting areas throughout the gardens provide spaces for private conversation amid the greenery, though also popular is the bastion pool deck, where the honey-coloured stone walls of Valletta’s ramparts are part of the scenic panorama seen from the pool and the seating area where a snack or a drink can be enjoyed al fresco.

Foremost among The Phoenicia’s facilities for relaxation is the spa.  An unusual space incorporating the foundations of old buildings uncovered when the very modern spa area was under construction, the spa and fitness area is open to all guests to enjoy the pool and the serene ambience.  Forget Treatment Room 1, Treatment Room 2, and Treatment Room 3; at The Phoenicia, where the whole hotel is imbued with positive energy, the rooms are Emotion, Oxygen, and Immersion.

That positive energy stems in no small part from the seeds of harmony planted under the stellar leadership of Australian general manager Robyn Pratt.  Ever optimistic, Ms Pratt sees that the guest experience at The Phoenicia is a stressless pleasure.  The staff seem as relaxed as the guests, but their tranquil demeanour belies their hard work behind the scenes to ensure The Phoenicia remains Malta’s most respected hotel.  Not that it is above fun and frivolity every once in a while.  A favourite venue for weddings and celebrations of special occasions, The Phoenicia will be prominent during EuroPride, extending a warm welcome to LGBTQI+ guests seeking the best accommodation for their visit.

The Malta Tourism Authority’s website is as rich in information as the country is in history and has a variety of attractions for the lucky travellers who make their way to the islands of Malta, Gozo, and Comino.  In this time when LGBTQI+ people seem to be under attack from governments in many countries, how wonderful to visit a place where everyone is welcome.  That alone makes relaxing with pride in The Republic Of Malta possible.
