Costa Navarino, the sustainably driven destination in the Mediterranean, has committed to ensuring that the diversified needs of people visiting the destination can be addressed, making them feel as comfortable as in their own home, and embracing the uniqueness of every individual. With that in mind, the destination embarked on a journey over a year ago, to ensure that all guests’ needs and preferences are anticipated and foreseen.

Resulting from these efforts, W Costa Navarino, the vibrant resort which made its debut last year, has received a major accolade by being the first hotel globally, accredited by the International LGBTQ+ Travel Association (IGLTA) for its inclusivity practices. IGLTA Accredited™ is a new program that serves as the gold standard of assurance that travel brands are committed to promoting equality and safety for LGBTQ+ travelers. For a brand to be recognized as IGTLA Accredited™, travel organizations and properties need to meet comprehensive, eight-part criteria through an evaluation that showcases evidence-based allyship.

“The foundation of Costa Navarino is built upon a deep respect for our guests. Our commitment is not only to meet but to exceed their expectations”, said Stephanos Theodorides, Managing Director of TEMES, the developers of Costa Navarino. “Recognizing that everyone has a unique personality, we strive to anticipate diverse needs, ensuring that everyone feels truly at ease. The fact that W Costa Navarino is the first hotel in the world to be IGLTA Accredited™ is a true honor and gives us confidence that we are on the right path”.

In addition, over the past year, Costa Navarino formed partnerships with organizations such as the University of Piraeus, HospitableMe, and IGLTA for conducting research and understanding the needs of different groups and how these can be met in the tourism sector. In light of the results, Costa Navarino applied several practices to ensure that the needs of people from different cultural backgrounds, gender identities, ethnicities, and people with autism, visual, hearing and mobility impairments, are successfully met. The first steps have been taken, and the journey towards achieving a fully inclusive destination continues.
