TravelManagers LogoIn a highly anticipated event, the renowned TravelManagers’ 2023 National Conference will be held from 31 August to 2 September, marking the company’s first offshore gathering since the global pandemic. Breaking new ground, this year’s conference will occur in the picturesque city of Ōtautahi Christchurch in Aotearoa, New Zealand. As the birthplace of TravelManagers’ parent company, House of Travel, the choice of location holds special significance.

Gihan Perera

TravelManagers’ annual National Conference will open with a keynote address from Gihan Perera, whose ideas about being future-ready in personal life and business are well-matched for its ‘Future Fit’ theme.

At the heart of the conference lies the theme of resilience, perfectly encapsulated by the conference venue – the Te Pae Convention Centre. This state-of-the-art facility is a testament to Christchurch’s remarkable recovery from the devastating earthquakes of 2010 and 2011. It embodies the strength and determination of the city and its inhabitants.

Under the ‘Future Fit’ theme, TravelManagers aims to underscore its ongoing commitment to innovation and adaptation. Michael Gazal, the Executive General Manager, emphasizes the importance of fine-tuning business operations through streamlined processes and adopting cutting-edge technologies. In his view, “future fitness” also entails continuous learning, skill development, strategic partnerships, risk management, and anticipation of evolving consumer needs.

The three-day conference will kick off with an opening address by the esteemed futurist Gihan Perera. Known for his engaging and inspiring speaking style, Perera has already captivated many of TravelManagers’ Personal Travel Managers (PTMs) with his profound understanding of their value. Beyond the opening address, he will conduct a workshop titled ‘The New Rules for High Performance – Channelling Chaos for Staying Ahead.’ This interactive session will equip PTMs with the latest tools, help them cultivate better habits, and enable lasting change in their day-to-day work.

Paul Taylor

Participating in Paul Taylor’s workshop on ‘Optimising Mental Fitness’ will give personal travel managers simple but valuable tools to enhance their resilience and well-being.

In addition, a workshop titled ‘Optimising Mental Fitness’ will be led by Paul Taylor, an expert in neuroscience, exercise physiology, and nutrition and a former British Royal Navy Aircrew Officer. Taylor’s resilience strategies, developed through his extensive scientific background, empower individuals to enhance their daily well-being, performance, and sleep quality.

The conference will culminate in a closing address by the distinguished 2023 Australian of the Year, Taryn Brumfitt. Brumfitt’s mission to promote healthy body image and positive relationships with one’s body has garnered international acclaim, leading her to address some of the world’s most renowned brands. With her inspiring message that resilience, tenacity, and polite persistence triumph over luck, Brumfitt’s closing address promises to leave attendees uplifted and motivated.
