Hotham Open Day 2023In an exciting kick-off to the 2023 season, Hotham’s Opening Day saw beaming faces and ecstatic spirits as the Summit and Summit Trainer, the first ski lifts of the season, commenced operations yesterday.

Emily Smith, Hotham’s Field Marketing Manager and a seasoned Hotham rider residing in Dinner Plain commented enthusiastically on the opening. “Today was all about our young enthusiasts. Watching them evolve and immerse themselves in skiing and snowboarding is a joy. I remember my own thrill of navigating Hotham’s mountains and the burgeoning love for snowsports that ensued,” shared Smith.

As the lifts began humming into action, keen local families formed eager queues to secure the first chairs of the season. For many of these children, the day they offered an early opportunity to squeeze in some skiing before their school holidays kicked off the following week.

Looking ahead to the school holidays, Smith exclaimed, “We have some fantastic weather on the horizon, with an ample snow forecast for the coming week. This should set up our resort perfectly.” Beyond the allure of the freshly powdered slopes, Hotham has an exciting itinerary in store. Night skiing and snowboarding, fireworks displays, the much-anticipated Subaru Snowfest, rail jams, and other family-oriented activities are on the schedule.

From Saturday, 17th June, Hotham’s Ski School swings its doors open, offering Mighty Mites, Kids Club, Group, and Private Lessons, which can all be booked in advance. Furthermore, all rental, retail, and food and beverage outlets are prepared to welcome guests to the resort, ensuring their experience extends beyond the thrill of the slopes.

In promising news for snow sports enthusiasts, a considerable amount of snow is expected in the near future, paving the way for more terrains to open soon. With a focus on providing a memorable experience for the whole family, Hotham is geared to welcome everyone back to the slopes this season.
