Thredbo Resort is celebrating a successful Opening Weekend for its 2023 Winter Season.

Guests enjoyed a fun-filled weekend despite there being no skiing or snowboarding, with a massive calendar of live music, entertainment and events on the mountain and throughout the village.

Thredbo Brand & Marketing Manager Richie Carroll said that it was incredible to see guests back in resort to celebrate the start of winter.

“Thredbo truly transformed into a winter playground for all ages on Opening Weekend. Our non-stop schedule of live music, events and entertainment ensured that even without skiing or snowboarding, everyone was able to celebrate and have a great time all weekend long.”

Thredbo’s first après party of the season, Heineken Saturday ft. Kinder Sounds, brought a massive crowd to the Alpine Bar on Saturday night, celebrating the start of the season with live music, dancing and fireworks.

On Sunday, Thredbo hosted its iconic G.H. Mumm Long Lunch, with attendees enjoying canapes and drinks in the village before moving inside for a beautiful custom lunch by our executive chef.

Across the weekend, guests also enjoyed scenic rides on the Kosciuszko Chairlift and Merritts Gondola, on-mountain dining and après at Eagles Nest and Merritts Mountain Haus, ice sculpting by Kenji, a Meet & Greet with Thredbo’s Olympic Ambassadors, non-stop live music, alpine bobsled rides, fireworks, alpine bungee, a magic show, face painting, Thredboland animal selfies, Lindt Chocolate s’mores, giant games and arts & crafts.

Colder temperatures also created suitable snowmaking conditions over the weekend and the 7-day forecast is looking promising with more snow and snowmaking conditions ahead. Stay tuned across our social channels and website for skiing and snowboarding updates.
