MYAirline's Debut in Thailand - Media RoundtableIn a triumphant stride forward for the Malaysian aviation industry, renowned airline MYAirline has announced its successful expansion to Bangkok, marking a pivotal moment in its progressive growth strategy. The first international flight lifted off on 28th June 2023, with a grand ceremony that attracted esteemed journalists and tourism experts from all over the globe.

The decision to expand into Bangkok was primarily influenced by the towering figures of Malaysian travellers travelling to and from Thailand for business and leisure. According to data released by the Thai Ministry of Tourism & Sports, between January and May 2023, Thailand welcomed an astonishing 1,696,358 visitors from Malaysia. This figure dwarfs the 76,420 visitors recorded in the same period of the previous year, marking an impressive 2,119.78% increase. Malaysia is leading the way in aiding the rejuvenation of Thailand’s tourism industry, a trend that MYAirline’s leadership foresees will only flourish in the future.MYAirline's Thailand Team

Since its establishment in 2021, MYAirline took flights from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2 (KLIA2) and began serving three Malaysian domestic destinations – Kuching, Kota Kinabalu, and Langkawi on December 1st, 2022. It has spread its wings to cover nine domestic routes, including Kota Bharu, Penang, Sibu, Tawau, and Miri, and an intra-Sabah route connecting Kota Kinabalu and Tawau.

But MYAirline’s ambitions soar far beyond expanding its flight routes. It aims to redefine air travel experiences by prioritizing customer satisfaction, maintaining superior reliability and convenience, and adhering to a rigorous focus on sustainability. The company’s current fleet comprises a single type of aircraft, the Airbus A320-200, allowing for cost-effective operations. Notably, these aircraft have novel interiors and cutting-edge pre-reclined seats crafted from sustainable materials. These seats not only contribute to weight savings but also lead to substantial fuel efficiency, in line with MYAirline’s sustainability goals.

The carrier has demonstrated its commitment to sustainability by adopting Electronic Flight Bags and digitalising its backend processes, which helps minimize paper waste.

As a passenger-centric airline, MYAirline goes above and beyond to ensure a memorable journey for its patrons. Whether it’s the assurance of dependable flights or attentive assistance on the ground and in-flight, the company aims to redefine air travel experiences. It’s also the first in the region to adopt gender-neutral uniforms for its cabin crew, demonstrating a commitment to inclusivity and equality.

With a short span of six months of operation, MYAirline has already reached the milestone of carrying one million passengers. It’s also the first Malaysian carrier to offer flights to and from Suvarnabhumi Airport and Don Mueang International Airport in Bangkok. Currently on course to receive 20 aircraft by the end of 2023, MYAirline’s sights are set on boasting a fleet of 80 by 2027.

Looking ahead, MYAirline’s Chief, Rayner, asserts the company’s commitment to revolutionizing air travel by putting passengers at the heart of its operations. “With an unwavering dedication to excellence, innovation, and sustainability, we are confident that MYAirline will become a preferred choice for travelers worldwide as we further extend our flight network to other neighboring countries in the Southeast Asian region this year.”
