AFTA LogoIn the constant quest for financial growth and stability, travel businesses are set to receive a crucial guide to tax deductions from an Australian Taxation Office (ATO) expert in an upcoming webinar hosted by ATAS. This represents another striking example of the education-based benefits ATAS accreditation confers on its members.

Slated for July 11, between 4 and 5 pm, the webinar features ATO’s Audit and Compliance Officer Matthew Walsh as its special guest. Walsh, whose vast expertise spans over twenty years in the ATO, is well-versed in the intricacies of taxation and superannuation systems. He aims to facilitate small businesses’ success by elucidating the complex layers of tax and super obligations in simple, comprehensible language.ATAS

In this webinar, Walsh will demystify tax deductions targeted explicitly towards small businesses in the travel industry, helping participants discern which deductions can be claimed and when they are eligible to claim them. A particular segment of the session will be dedicated to explaining the importance and best practices of record-keeping.

Dean Long, CEO of the Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA), underscored the significance of such educational endeavours in his recent remarks. He noted that tax deductions are a heated topic among ATAS-accredited businesses, mainly as it’s the tax season. Small businesses, including travel professionals, can find tax obligations challenging. ATAS aims to alleviate this burden by supporting its members with the necessary training and skills.

Further highlighting the importance of continued professional development, Long stressed that it’s a primary benefit of being an ATAS-accredited business. He urged all travel professionals participating in the webinar to seize this golden opportunity to learn from an ATO expert. This knowledge can help them derive maximum value for their travel business during tax time.

The webinar, part of ATAS’s ongoing commitment to bolster the travel industry, is free for all ATAS-accredited businesses, AFTA Corporate Partners, and Allied Members. Non-members interested in participating can register by emailing afta@afta.com.au with a registration fee of $50 per person.

If you miss the live webinar, there’s no need to worry. A recording of the session will be readily available. Simply get in touch with the compliance team at compliance@afta.com.au to obtain it.

This is yet another glowing example of how ATAS supports its members and the wider travel industry, reinforcing the numerous benefits of ATAS accreditation, including its continued commitment to education and professional development.

As we look forward to this highly informative webinar, it’s clear that ATAS, AFTA, and ATO are committed to empowering small businesses with the knowledge they need to succeed. It’s not just about surviving in the highly competitive travel industry but thriving in it.
