Contemporary gastrobar room 3 in fashionable H Zentre, Tsim Sha Tsui, refreshes its innovative cocktail menu with four unique creations that echo the tastes of classic Hong Kong culinary attractions, and enhances its array of yakitori and Japanese-inspired tapas for sophisticated snacking whilst sipping.

The new “Ode to Hong Kong Hedonistic Pleasures” collection pays homage to Hong Kong’s eclectic food and drinks heritage. Conceived and crafted by the in-house mixology team, this merry and fragrant quartet is now available for imbibing in the 3 chic interconnected sanctuaries that comprise room 3. The vibrant 21st century speakeasy is called “room san” – san (さん) being the Japanese word for ‘three’.

Along with the launch of these 4 alluring cocktails, the culinary team adds new attractions to its creative Japanese tapas menu for sharing over hours of happy chatter. The signature Yakitori selection (HK$38 each) now includes Chicken Breast Soft Bone, Chicken Neck, Chicken Thigh, and the must-have meat and onion combo of Teriyaki Chicken & Japanese Scallion. Also sizzling on the grill are Kushiyaki skewers of Japanese Crab Meat with Dried Cod Crackers (HK$58) and Grilled Tuna Jaw (HK$68).

Other delightful appetisers to stave off hunger pangs during afternoon or evening rendezvous are Grilled Cheese Fish Cake (HK$32 each), Takoyaki (HK$32 for 4 balls), Sea-Salted Edamame (HK$38) and Japanese Monkfish Liver (HK$48). Rich bites of Japanese Sweet Potato Chestnut Croquette (HK$48) pair aptly with the new sweet potato-infused Sippin Sweets cocktail.

Tempura makes its debut with light, crispy battered servings of Japanese Sweet Potato (HK$32 for 3 pieces), Japanese Pumpkin (HK$32 for 3), Lotus Root (HK$32 for 3) and sweet, luscious Tiger Prawn (HK$58 per piece). Tossed Udon with Matsuba Crab (HK$88) is a new main choice, a filling bowl of noodles enriched with the succulent meat of the male snow crab. For sweet accompaniments to the new cocktails, Grilled Pineapple (HK$32) complements Ananas Epicé and the jellied ‘raindrop cake’ of Mizu Shingen Mochi (HK$18) goes hand in hand with Levitating CloudTaiyaki (HK$68), the moreish red-bean filled, fish-shaped pastry, is perfect for munching at any time of day or night.

Relaxed chilling and sipping is a breeze once revellers are settled in the spacious, nature-inspired interiors of room 3. The handiwork of award-winning interior design studio Minus Workshop, brown and natural tones and bamboo motifs are weaved across 3 distinctively themed spaces and moods that extend over nearly 2,000 sq. ft. Flexible seating arrangements throughout encourage socialising.

The ‘Akasaka Room’ is the biggest and liveliest of the 3 spaces. A statement bar provides a close view of the animated mixology, while a domed ceiling and mirrored stainless-steel spheres and surfaces emphasise the elegant vibe. With its curved tables, mirrored wall panels and crystal inlays, the more intimate ‘Ginza Room’ is dominated by a striking chandelier and its spiral trail of bamboo-leaf shapes. The final room, ‘Roppongi’, is the cosiest setting, where a long, leaf-patterned inner wall creates the feeling of picnicking under the trees.

The “Ode to Hong Kong Hedonistic Pleasures” cocktail collection can also be savoured over lunch or dinner of traditional omakase-style kappou cuisine at KAPPOU MU, room 3’s serene sister restaurant. The two Japanese dining and imbibing hotspots, which opened at the turn of the year and share an elegant reception area, are founded and managed by dynamic hospitality management company Dining Art Group.

room 3, which evokes the spirit of iconic Tokyo hideaways that buzz from late afternoon to late into the night, is ideal for chilling and chatter over innovative cocktails from a list that reimagines the classic art as well as a creative menu of Japanese small plates for sharing.
